Hooray! She graduated! |
First, I went to Les Fabriques, my usual stop when visiting Charlottesville. I drove to the location and discovered an empty store front! My heart fell. I panicked. But then I checked online and learned Les Fabriques hadn't closed, it moved. The new location is much bigger and more luxuriously decorated. Here is what I picked up:
teal cotton stripe; teal stretch woven; yellow knit |
It being graduation weekend, hotel rooms were scarce and overpriced. As a result, my hotel was about 25 miles from Charlottesville in Waynesboro. Naturally, I searched for independent fabric stores in Waynesboro and found Fabric Warehouse. This store and Les Fabriques are polar opposites. Les Fabriques is located in an upscale shopping plaza. Fabric Warehouse is located in a low rent strip mall which translates to lower prices. I picked up these two pieces for less than $25.00:
magenta twill and cotton check |
So, I was not able to join the PR Weekend fun in New York City. But I was able to score nice fabrics in my own personal PR Weekend.
Lovely DD; congratulations to you both!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the tip. I shall be in Waynesboro today. Shall have to stop at Fabric Warehouse.
ReplyDeleteElaray, I met you at a PR Shopping Day in NYC in August 2010(?)It was the year your sister had a big birthday, I think. I remember your telling me that your daughter was at UVA, from which my own daughter graduated in 1998. When I read that you could not attend PRWeekend because of the UVA graduation, I thought, "gee, I hope she can go to Fabriques", and you did! I surely was jealous of those who could attend last weekend, but your shopping trip has blunted the sting for me. Congratulations to the graduate and to you!

I remember our conversation! Les Fabriques has changed quite a bit since they've moved. I was impressed by the decor and the increased square footage. I will miss shopping there now that DD has graduated.
DeleteCongratulations! It's a wonderful feeling when they reach this milestoe isn't it? Good job on the fabrics, too!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on your daughter's graduation. It is great that you got to still have fabric excursions while there. Does it get any better that two great fabric places to check out and a visit to a daughter's milestone? mssewcrazy
ReplyDeleteCongratulations to you and your daughter!! Glad you were able to include some fabric shopping on your trip to VA.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations to you and your dd on her graduation! Glad to hear that you weren't deprived of fabric.
ReplyDeleteA great double play, graduation and fabric shopping! Congratulations to you and your daughter (the pride is showing in that picture).

I drove through Charlottesville a few months ago and didn't even think to look for fabric stores! My bad for sure, but now I know better. I hope that on one of the PR weekends I'll get to meet you (or did you go to the Philly one, I did). Congratulations of your daughter's stupendous achievement, it's a great school and I'm sure with that on her resume she will do well in life.
ReplyDeleteHi there, wow I wish I remembered you were in PA. Send me an email and I will forward your info the President of the Chapter. Take care.
