Introducing Tangi!

Tangi is the newest addition to my household. Tangi's mother belongs to a friend of my daughter. When my daughter learned the cat was expecting, she asked if we could have one of the kittens because she was concerned about me being the only thing that moves in the house after she went off to college. Tangi was the only kitten in the litter (tangi is Tagalog for "one and only"), so it was hard for the family to give her up.

She is adorable, but she is ripping my legs to shreds. I'd forgotten how playful kittens can be! They jump at everything that moves - drawstrings, shoestrings, hair, fingers typing on a keyboard, etc. And when they jump, their claws are extended. Trust me – kitten claws are S-H-A-R-P!! But, I'm a cat person and I will endure the loss of skin and blood because I know eventually, Tangi will treat me like I'm an unwelcome guest in her house. In the meantime, my blood type is A+. Let me know if you're a match. I may be calling you.

  1. Awwww! She's adorable!

I actually trimmed my kittens claws after he was here only a week, because he was actually damaging our other cats a bit. My own blood, I don't care about, but my other cats deserve to keep their flesh on their bodies.

  2. What a cutie! And I remember the painful leg attacks... I had one kitten that would attack my feet as I slept. Youch! But boy, she was a loving cat when she grew up.

BTW, I'm O- so if necessary I can send you a couple vials!

But how thoughtful of your daughter to worry about you getting lonely.

  5. She is ADORABLE!!! I just love cats. My mother had a gray cat that weighed 20 lbs at one time. That is so sweet of your daughter to be concerned about you.

  6. Awwwww . . . very cute. I'm O+, the good old universal donor, let me know if you need help. Hopefully *before* you pass out from excessive blood loss.

  7. I'm soooo envious. I am a real cat lover but because I live in the bush I have to live without one. I have a family of tiny native quails in my yard and they wouldn't last too long with a young cat around, plus the carpet snake living under my kitchen sink would surely think a cat is just the right size for a midnight snack! Good thing I'm A+, though, I might just have to hop on a plane and bring you some blood and get a free snuggle with Tangi while I'm at it! Look forward to seeing Tangi's adventures in helping you with your sewing.

  8. Such a cutie! That was very sweet of your daughter to provide company when she left. Not sure my blood type, but I've got more cats if Tangi gets lonely . . .

  9. I'm an A+ but it's easier to trim those claws. Just use regular people clippers and snip off just the sharp point. It will grow back in a few days so you have to keep on top of it. We call the cats, powder puffs after the trimming. Can't hurt a fly.

I'm looking forward to those WOF pants. The stitching looks like it will work out perfectly.

  10. Oh, so cute! I love puppies and kittens the way most people like babies. But you can certainly see the wicked little kitten with claws in her eyes, can't you. She's fierce!
