Quilts = Comfort. Using a quilt can certainly bring comfort. What is more comfortable than wrapping up in a quilt with a good book and a cup of something hot? But who would have thought making a quilt would be just as comforting? For a multitude of reasons, Nov. 16 - 20 was one of most stressful, annoying and frustrating work weeks I've experienced in quite a long time. Finishing my quilt over the weekend and immediately wrapping myself in it was so satisfying, it all but pushed the previous week out of my memory.
This is not a prize winning quilt. The piecing is imprecise. The quilting is wobbly. However, the quilt still does what a quilt is supposed to do, as demonstrated below!
I am so pleased with this quilt, in spite of its imperfections! I love the vibrant colors and I love the fact that I made it! And because I'm so sure this quilt will become a priceless collectors' item, I even made a label!
I'm already planning the next quilt.
Quilting can become so addictive. Please sew something pretty to wear so I can admire it as well. Your quilt turned out beautifully.
ReplyDeleteIT'S BEAUTIFUL!
ReplyDeleteIt's gorgeous. I am not a quilter but marvel over the work that goes into it.
ReplyDeleteLooks lovely. I see no imperfections!
That's a great photo. You've discovered that quilts do have a special power in them. I haven't quilted in over 10 years and said I was going to make one this winter. Guess I better get started.
ReplyDeletepretty quilt, looks cozy!!
ReplyDeleteThis is a gorgeous looking quilt. I love the colors and it would be a very comforting quilt to use. Excellent job :)
ReplyDeleteYour quilt looks great. As someone who quilts, just enjoy the process. The more you do the better you become.
ReplyDeleteYour quilt is gorgeous. I'm glad you're enjoying it.
ReplyDeleteooh, you do look comfy! Well done.
ReplyDeleteGood one! I think in 2010 I will make a quilt. I should make that a New Year's resolution.
ReplyDeleteIt's awesome! I love the colors - bright and happy. It doesn't matter that it isn't perfect. It matters that you like it and will use it.
ReplyDeleteThere is nothing like a quilt for comfort. I have a quilt that my grandmother made so many years ago. I call it my "sick quilt" and cuddle up in it when I'm not feeling well.
ReplyDeleteHi Elaray! Congratulations on quilt #2 and for not letting quilting die after taking a class. You should be proud of yourself. Wanna know a secret? ;-) When I took the NYC ASG trip about 3 weeks ago, I shared with a fellow sewer that I met for the first time about your blog. I told her that one of my blogging buddies usually (at least as long as I have tagged your blog) doesn't usually show her face when she takes pictures of her beautifully made garments...but OH, when she started quilting, we got to see her smiling, delightful face (I'm not making this up). We were talking about quilting because the lady I sat next to was/is a quilter.
ReplyDeleteThis time of year is the perfect time to make one as you've already said. Take care!
Beautiful quilt. As you said there is something about quilting that is soooooo relaxing. That reminds me, I have two quilt top that need to be finish.
ReplyDeleteVery nice! You are doing great with the quilting.
ReplyDeleteOk, I'm staking my claim on this one so you'll have to make yourself another! LOL! No, I'm serious.
ReplyDeleteLovely Quit. I think I need two of them.
